Prince Aga-Khan is visiting Kyrgyzstan

His Majesty Prince Aga Khan the 4th with his brother Prince Amin Aga Khan arrived in Kyrgyzstan with official visit. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Nikolay Tanayev met them at the airport.

The Prince Aga Khan and Askar Akayev visit Naryn town, where the ceremony of laying of the foundation stone of University of Central Asia will take place. The head University will be situated in Tajik city of Horog. This private, noncommercial high society University will serve the region with its 25 million people. 15 million $ were allocated from the fund of Aga-Khan Development Organization for construction of the University building. This educational establishment will prepare specialists on health care, agriculture, education, to work in mountainous regions.

Documents on forming of the University were signed by Prince Aga Khan, Presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in 2000. The place of head University in the center of Gorno-Badahshan oblast of Tajikistan – Horog city is choosed not occasionly: the most of population here are Ismailits. Muslims from Shii Imama Ismaili sect unite their followers in 25 countries of Asia, Africa, Europe and North America. The guests will visit Issyk-kul oblast too, where they go tomorrow with Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan N. Tanayev, international conference “The development of stable tourism in Issyk-kul region” will be held there. The guests will be shown the general scheme of development of oblast health resort-recreational zone. President of Kyrgyzstan A. Akayev, Prime minister N. Tanayev, the head of representation of Japan international cooperation agency (JICA) Nakano Satoshi, Minister of finance Bolot Abildaev will take part in the conference.

Aga Khan the 4th (Prince Karim al Huseini-shah) the elder son of Prince Ali Han was born 1936, December 13 in Geneva. He became the 49th –imam of ismailits. He studied at Harvard University, his major was the Eastern history.

Honored Crown title Aga Khan was given by the Persian shah to the 46th imam of ismailits at the beginning of the 21st century. Imamat ismailits, which heads by Aga Khan do not take part in political trends, they preach the respect of human heritage and confirmation of agreement among nations. The Aga Khan organization spends on non-commercial projects about 100 million US dollars per year.

His Highness Aga Khan pays official visit to Kyrgyzstan

His Highness Aga Khan Kerim IV together with his brother His Highness Prince Amin Aga Khan have arrived in Kyrgyzstan on an official visit. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Nikolai Tanaev has met him at the airport. A ceremony of laying foundation of the University of Central Asia took place in Naryn today. Opening this event, Naryn Governor Askar Salymbekov said Kyrgyz President Askar Akaev and His Highness Aga Khan, whose fund financing the project, could not attend the ceremony because of weather conditions.

The guest will pay visit to Issykkul province, where will take place international conference “Sustainable Tourism Development in Issykkul Region”. The general scheme of development of region’s health resort-recreational zone will be shown to guests during the international conference.

Foundation of University of Central Asia lays in Naryn

Naryn, July 8. (KABAR). A ceremony of laying foundation of the University of Central Asia took place in Naryn today. Opening this event, Naryn Governor Askar Salymbekov said Kyrgyz President Askar Akaev and His Highness Aga Khan, whose fund financing the project, could not attend the ceremony because of weather conditions.

During their speeches, Prime Minister Nikolai Tanaev and Aga Khan’s brother Amin Aga Khan noted the construction of higher educational institution will make contribution in socio-economic and culture-humanitarian development of not only Naryn but also the whole republic.
