Prince the Aga Khan IV: If reforms are implemented in Kyrgyzstan peacefully, we will support such changes

Bishkek (AKIpress) - Prime Minister Felix Kulov met with His Highness the Aga Khan IV on October 28 at the House of Government.

In his speech Prime Minister Kulov talked about socio-political situation in Kyrgyzstan as well as progress of the constitutional reform.

In his turn, the Aga Khan IV said that the aim of his visit to Kyrgyzstan is to meet with the senior leadership of Kyrgyzstan so that to learn about the current situation in the country, to review progress of implementation of projects supported by the Aga Khan Development Network, to discuss further assistance in promoting reforms in Kyrgyzstan. “The political challenges faced by your country are peculiar to those countries where we work. I would like to emphasize only that the changes should neither affect the economic activities of the country, nor contribute to further deterioration of the population’s living conditions. If reforms are implemented peacefully, we will support such changes,” the Aga Khan said.

At the close of the meeting, PM Kulov wished success to His Highness and expressed his confidence in further fruitful cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the Aga Khan Development Network.

The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is the biggest private international development network in the world. His Highness the Aga Khan is the founder and Chair of the AKDN. The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) focuses on health, education, culture, rural development, institution-building and the promotion of economic development. It is dedicated to improving living conditions and opportunities for the poor, without regard to their faith, origin or gender. From outset of its operation in Kyrgyzstan the AKDN has invested some US$7million into implementation of its programs and projects.
