Prince Karim Aga Khan calls on PM

ISLAMABAD, Dec 4 (APP): Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said Monday that the invaluable services rendered by the successive generations of Prince Karim Aga Khan's family both during the struggle for our independence and also after the creation of Pakistan are a testimony of their commitment, love and faith in Pakistan.

He was talking to Prince Karim Aga Khan who called on him this evening.

The Prime Minister said that Prince Aga Khan's contribution in setting up centers of excellence in the field of educational and health care will go a long way in improving the quality of education and health in Pakistan.

No less important, he said, are the investment being made by Prince Aga Khan network in the business and commercial sectors of Pakistan's economy.

He particularly appreciated the efforts made by Prince Aga Khan for promotion of tourism in Pakistan.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan is keen to tap its vast potential of tourism and is taking various steps to promote it by creating the necessary infrastructure in the form of hotels, motels, roads and transport.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan has made special efforts to develop its social sectors with focus on improving the quality of education, expanding the rate of literacy and imparting skills to meet the growing demand of the industry.

The Prime Minister apprised Prince Karim Aga Khan of the efforts being made by Pakistan to bring about a qualitative improvement in its relations with its neighbours.

Peace in the region, he said, will allow unhindered development of all countries and contribute to the prosperity and progress of the people.

Prince Karim Aga Khan said that Pakistan had made impressive economic gains which has made it an attractive destination for investment.

He said that the Aga Khan network will continue to invest both in commercial and business sectors in Pakistan.

He said that the Aga Khan Foundation is working on various plans to start various ventures in Pakistan especially in educational and tourism fields.

Prince Karim Aga Khan particularly appreciated the efforts being made by Pakistan to promote inter faith and inter cultural harmony to advance international peace, harmony and understanding.

Later, the Prime Minister hosted a dinner for Prince Karim Aga Khan.
