JAPAN, SWITZERLAND HELP BUILD POWER STATION IN EASTERN TAJIKISTAN - 2001-07-16

A new small hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 100 kW/ hour has been put into operation in a mountainous village in eastern Tajikistan, Tajik radio reported on 16 July. 'Japan and Switzerland have provided comprehensive assistance with drawing up this important project for the mountainous village in Shughnon [District]. The countries allocated 74,211 dollars through the Aga Khan Development Foundation for the construction of the station,' the report said.
